FAQs

Direct-drive compressors are lighter, cheaper, and quieter at low duty cycles — suitable for occasional use, mobile applications, and tasks requiring short bursts of air (tyre inflation, light pneumatic tools, blow-down). They run hotter and wear faster under sustained use. Belt-drive compressors are heavier and more expensive but built for continuous duty — they run cooler, last longer, and handle heavier air-tool loads. For a busy workshop running multiple air tools daily, belt-drive is the right choice. For occasional use, direct-drive is more economical.

Each air tool has a CFM rating at a working pressure (typically 90 PSI / 6-bar or 100 PSI / 7-bar). Your compressor must deliver that CFM continuously — check the compressor's free air delivery (FAD) rating at the same pressure. As a rule of thumb, compressor FAD should be at least 1.5× the tool's CFM demand to allow for duty cycle and pressure drop. Heavy tools (impact wrenches, grinders, sanders) demand more air than light tools (blow guns, tyre inflators, brad nailers).

Replacement parts — pressure switches, safety valves, regulators, gauges, drain valves, motor capacitors, belts, and seal kits — are supplied for the majority of SIP, Sealey, Nuair, and Clarke compressors. Search by the model code on the compressor's data plate (typically on the side of the tank or the motor housing). WhatsApp 07754288583 with the model code if a part isn't appearing in search.

Parts For Machines is an Authorised Distributor and Seller of SIP, Sealey, and Draper across compressors and pneumatic tools. SIP leads the range with the widest selection — direct-drive, belt-drive, screw, and silent-running models, plus the broadest pneumatic tool and accessory range. Sealey covers mid-range portable compressors and air tools. Draper covers the entry-trade end. We also carry Clarke compressors, and Nuair compressors for industrial-grade installations.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging, on orders delivered within the United Kingdom. For damaged-on-arrival items, report within 24 hours with photographs to [email protected] — we will typically arrange collection and replacement at no cost to you. For parts that don't fit your machine, the Fit Guarantee covers a hassle-free return at no cost. For buyer's remorse — you've changed your mind or ordered the wrong item, email us first to obtain a Return Merchandise Number; a restocking fee may apply. Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the return is inspected.

Delivery time depends on the product, your destination, and availability — the estimated time for any item appears on the product page, and 'Check where we deliver' confirms coverage for your postcode before you order. Next-day delivery is available on most products; the option appears at checkout when applicable. We deliver across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Use the country selector at checkout to confirm coverage and delivery options for your destination.

Compressors

Compressors are the workhorse of any workshop running air tools, paint sprayers, tyre inflation, or pneumatic test rigs. Parts For Machines supplies air compressors and compressor parts for trade and professional use across automotive, plant, agricultural, and industrial applications, in both portable and fixed-installation formats. Within Compressors you will find Air Tools (the pneumatic tools that run from compressed air — air ratchets, impact wrenches, die grinders, sanders, drills, hammers), Direct Drive Compressors (motor coupled directly to the pump, common for portable and lower-duty workshop use), Belt Drive Compressors (motor driving the pump via belt, longer service life and better duty cycle for trade workshops), and Piston Compressors. Air Tool Kits and individual air-tool sub-categories sit beneath Air Tools. Parts For Machines is an Authorised Distributor and Seller of SIP, Sealey, and Draper across compressors and pneumatic tools. SIP leads the range with the largest selection — Tempest pressure washers aside, the SIP compressor lineup spans direct-drive units from 6-litre through 270-litre tanks, belt-drive units, screw compressors, and pneumatic accessories. Sealey covers mid-range portable compressors and air tools. Draper covers the entry-trade end of compressors and air-tool kits. Clarke is also represented for compressors. Parts For Machines offers Nuair compressors for industrial-grade installations. Buyers reaching this section commonly search by motor power (in HP or kW), tank capacity (in litres), and air delivery (CFM at a working pressure of 7-bar or 8-bar). For replacement parts on existing compressors — pressure switches, regulators, gauges, drain valves, motor capacitors — search by the SIP, Sealey, Nuair, or Clarke model code. Sealey and SIP replacement parts are the most-searched within this category. Compressors are professional equipment — site safe-working pressures, electrical supply (110V site or 230V), and noise ratings vary, all listed on the product page.
